AGING:

  • If age 20-25, roll of 1 or 2 retires, 3-100 safe
  • If age 26, 1-4 retires, 5-10 ages, 11-100 safe
  • If age 27, 1-6 retires, 7-20 ages, 21-100 safe
  • If age 28, 1-8 retires, 9-30 ages, 31-100 safe
  • If age 29, 1-10 retires, 11-40 ages, 41-100 safe
  • If age 30, 1-15 retires, 16-50 ages, 51-100 safe
  • If age 31, 1-20 retires, 21-60 ages, 61-100 safe
  • If age 32, 1-30 retires, 31-70 ages, 71-100 safe
  • If age 33, 1-40 retires, 41-80 ages, 81-100 safe
  • If age 34, 1-50 retires, 51-90 ages, 91-100 safe
  • If age 35+, 1-50 retires, 51-100 ages

The retirement percentage is built in to the aging percentage.
*AGING means one notch loss in all significant categories

  • If a player earns a performance gain opportunity their chance of retirement decreases by 25% and their chance of aging decreases by 15%.
    AGING W/GAIN:

    • If age 20-25, 1-100 safe
    • If age 26, 1-100 safe
    • If age 27, 1-5 ages, 6-100 safe
    • If age 28, 1-15 ages, 16-100 safe
    • If age 29, 1-25 ages, 26-100 safe
    • If age 30, 1-35 ages, 36-100 safe
    • If age 31, 1-45 ages, 46-100 safe
    • If age 32, 1-5 retires, 6-55 ages, 56-100 safe
    • If age 33, 1-15 retires, 16-65 ages, 66-100 safe
    • If age 34, 1-25 retires, 26-75 ages, 76-100 safe
    • If age 35+, 1-25 retires, 26-85 ages, 86-100 safe

The retirement percentage is built in to the aging percentage.
    HOW IT WORKS

At the end of the season, age is determined for each player in the league.

Let's say a player is 29 years old and qualified for a performance gain at their position by ranking 4th statistically.

A 29 year old has a 40% chance of aging and 10% chance of retirement within that 40%. Since the player qualified for the gain roll at his position, the chance of retirement is decreased by 25%, so he eliminates his chance of retirement. He also decreased his chance for aging by 15%, so he now only has a 25% chance of aging.
The player also has a 20% chance of an attribute increase.

So to recap, the player has a 0% chance of retiring, 25% chance of aging, and 20% chance at attribute increase.

RETROphile will then use a random number generator to generate a random number between 1 and 100.

If the number is between 1 and 25, the player AGES (loses one notch of every significant attribute)
If the number is between 26 and 100, the player NEITHER ages nor retires

Next, RETROphile will generate a second number, provided the guy didn't retire.

If the number is between 1 and 20, he IMPROVES (gains one notch of every significant attribute)
If the number is between 21 and 100, he DOES NOT improve and his attributes will remain the same (provided that he did not AGE in step 1 of the process).

So for this particular player, say the first random number generated is 24. The player stays in the league but loses a notch of attributes. Say the second number generated is 17. Then he gains a notch of attributes cancelling the effect of the agingn roll, so he is essentially the same player in year 2 as he was in year 1.
